White Belt One-Steps

The first series of one steps. For each of these, the attacker steps forward and punches with the front hand.

Defense #1

  1. Step back into open back stance and out forearm block with front hand

  2. Step into riding stance at 45º angle in front of attacker

  3. Punch twice to solar plexus

  4. Punch once to the head


Defense #2

  1. Step back into closed back stance and front block with front hand

  2. Turn and pivot on front foot to land in riding stance in front of attacker, facing away from attacker

  3. Backwards elbow strike into ribs or solar plexus

  4. Backwards backfist strike to face

  5. Downward and backwards hammerfist strike to the groin


Defense #3

  1. Step back into open back stance and knife hand block with front hand

  2. Back leg front kick

  3. Land in riding stance at 45º angle in front of attacker

  4. Punch to the face

  5. Upset punch to the stomach


Defense #4

  1. Step forward and to the outside of attacker's punch into a front stance, blocking cross-body with a palm block

  2. Back leg roundhouse kick to the torso

  3. Land behind attacker in a back stance and knife hand strike to the back of the neck


Defense #5

  1. Step back into open stance and use the front leg to side kick the attacker as they come in

  2. Land again in open back stance and high block the punch

  3. Back hand punch to the face

  4. Use the front hand which was doing a high block in Step 2 and grab the attacker's arm

  5. Pull the attacker in and use the back arm to elbow strike to the torso
