Low Red Belt Knife Defenses
Unlike the brown belt knife defenses, these knife defenses involve grappling the attacker's arm or blocking the attack in some way. They are more aggressive.
Attack #1
Step forward slashing diagonally downward and across.
Defense #1
Block attacker's arm with a high knifehand block (like a high block with an open hand) on the mirror side of the attacker. Use the open hand to catch and grab the attacker's wrist.
Knuckle finger strike with back hand to the attacker's neck.
Use the back hand to wrap around the attacker's elbow, then force the knife hand to curl back over. Continue walking back and behind attacker, forcing the arm upwards and back.
Attack #2
Step forward slashing horizontally at stomach level.
Defense #2
Block the attack with an outside crescent kick hitting the attacker's wrist.
Back ridge-hand strike to the face.
Punch with the other hand.
Attack #3
Step forward with a stabbing attack.
Defense #3
Step back with the opposite foot such that defender and attacker or in complimentary stances (i.e. both have the same foot in front).
Use the front hand to execute a full circular block to knock the knife hand away.
Smash the attacker's knee with a side kick, causing them to fall to one knee.
Axe kick to the attacker's head.
Attack #4
From behind the defender, wrap the knife hand around their neck.
Defense #4
Grab the attacker's hand with both hands and pull down.
Step forward, rotating towards the attacker's knife hand.
Turn fully around, twisting the attacker's arm.
Front kick to the knee.
Attack #5
Step forward and attack downward with a reverse grip on the knife (ice pick attack).
Defense #5
High x-block with closed fists.
Grab attacker's wrist with one hand to immobilize it.
Front kick to the knee.
