Low Green Belt One-Steps
Unlike previous one-steps, these exercises have a different attack each time. Students will practice grappling techniques with these exercises.
Attack #1
Grab the defender's shoulder
Defense #1
Use the same side hand to pin the attacker's hand to the shoulder
Use the other hand to go cross body and strike upwards into the attacker's elbow, breaking the joint
Use that same arm to deliver an elbow strike to the ribs under the attacker's arm
Turn around and elbow strike backwards with the other arm into the ribs
Attack #2
Use both hands to grab the lapels of the defender's jacket or the front of their shirt
Defense #2
Drop back into front stance (either leg) while doing a double high block with both arms to drive away the attacker's hands
Back leg front kick into the knee
Land in a shallow front stance and back hand palm strike into the face or chin
Attack #3
Grab the defender's shoulder.
Defense #3
Reach cross body to grab the hand on the shoulder
Flip the hand over, keeping it pressed against the shoulder
Put the other hand under the attacker's elbow
Push to flip the entire arm and push on the elbow, forcing the attacker to bend over
Now that the attacker's head is lowered, kick to the face
Attack #4
Grab both of the defender's shoulders
(Note: This is meant to simulate grabbing the throat for a choke, but in order to practice safely, the attacker grabs the shoulders instead)
Defense #4
Wedging block to drive the attacker's hands apart
Double inward knifehand strike with both hands
Grab the attacker's shoulders and jerk down while executing a knee strike
Attack #5
From behind, wrap both arms around the defender in a "bear hug" attack
Defense #5
Drop downward into riding stance while simultaneously doing a double high block in order to raise the attacker's arms over the head and get free
Backwards elbow strike on one side (either one)
Backwards elbow on the other side
