Yul-Gok

38 moves

Yul-Gok is the pseudonym of the philosopher Yi I (1536 - 1584 CE) who was nicknamed the "Confucius of Korea."

This is the first form to use slow movements for some steps.


Start in standard parallel ready position.

  1. Slowly slide the left foot out into a riding stance facing North. Extend the left fist out while doing so.

  2. Middle punch with right hand.

  3. Middle punch with left hand (perform 2 and 3 in a fast motion). Kihap.

  4. Bring the left foot in to the right foot, then slowly slide the right foot out into a riding stance facing North. Extend the right fist out while doing so.

  5. Middle punch with left hand.

  6. Middle punch with right hand (perform 5 and 6 in a fast motion).

  7. Pick up the right foot and move it into a right front stance facing Northeast. Inside block with right hand.

  8. Front kick with left leg, keeping the hands in the same position as they were in 7.

  9. Land forward into a left front stance. Left hand punch.

  10. Right hand punch while in the same stance (perform 9 and 10 in a fast motion).

  11. Pick up the left foot and step out to a left front stance facing Northwest. Inside block with left hand.

  12. Front kick with right leg, keeping the hands in the same position as they were in 11.

  13. Land forward into a right front stance. Right hand punch.

  14. Left hand punch (perform 13 and 14 in a fast motion).

  15. Pick up the right foot and place it into a right front stance facing North. Execute a slow hooking push block with the right hand while doing so.

  16. Slow hooking push block with the left hand while staying in the same stance.

  17. Right hand middle punch while staying in the same stance.

  18. Step forward into a left front stance facing North. Execute a slow hooking push block with the left hand while doing so.

  19. Slow hooking push block with the right hand while staying in the same stance.

  20. Left hand middle punch while staying in the same stance.

  21. Step forward into a right front stance facing North. Right hand punch. Kihap.

  22. Pick up the left foot and prepare a left side kick chamber to the North while standing on the right leg.

  23. Execute a left side kick to the North.

  24. Land in a left front stance facing North. Execute a horizontal elbow strike with the right elbow striking the left palm.

  25. Pick up the right foot and prepare a right side kick chamber to the South while standing on the left leg.

  26. Execute a right side kick to the South.

  27. Land in a right front stance facing South. Execute a horizontal elbow strike with the left elbow striking the right palm.

  28. Bring the left foot forward to the right foot, then step out with the left foot into a left back stance facing East. Twin knifehand out forearm block.

  29. Step forward into a right front stance facing East. Supported spear finger with right hand.

  30. Pick up the right foot and turn clockwise to form a right back stance facing West. Twin knifehand out forearm block.

  31. Step forward into a left front stance facing West. Supported spear finger with left hand.

  32. Pick up the left foot and step into a left front stance facing South. Out forearm block with the left hand.

  33. Maintaining the same stance, right middle punch.

  34. Step forward into a right front stance facing South. Out forearm block with the right hand.

  35. Maintaining the same stance, left middle punch.

  36. Jump to the South into a twisting stance landing with the left foot flat on the ground and the right foot on the toes directly behind the left. Horizontal backfist strike with the left hand. Kihap.

  37. Pick up the right foot and rotate clockwise into a right front stance facing East. Double front block.

  38. Bring the right foot to the left foot and then step out with the left foot into a left front stance facing West. Double front block. Kihap.
