Chon-Ji

Means “Heaven and Earth.” According to legend, Chon-Ji is the lake where Dan-Gun founded Korea.

As the first form that students learn, Chon-Ji follows a relatively simple formula.

  • Every block is followed by a step forward and punch
  • If the left foot is in front after a punch, the next step is a 90 degree step counterclockwise
  • If the right foot is in front after a punch, the next step is to pick up to front leg and execute a 180 degree turn

4 Kihaps

Note: “North” means the direction the student is facing before the form begins (usually the front of the room). Stances are described according to the foot in front (e.g. “left back stance” means a back stance with the left foot in front).
